When Nintendo unveiled their Wii U console earlier this Summer at E3, EA showcased a bunch of titles in a trailer. Among those titles was Battlefield 3, which is slated to become the first Battlefield game on a Nintendo console.
According to rumors from WiiUDaily, developer DICE are using all of their resources on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3, working crunch time to make sure the game ships on October 25. According to the rumor, DICE is in possession of a Wii U development unit, but so far haven’t considered porting Battlefield 3 to the Wii U. In fact, it’s not even in the planning stages yet. The earliest a Wii U version of Battlefield 3 would start development would be “well into 2012″, which would mean a 2013 release date. Of course, none of this is confirmed by EA/DICE — so far Battlefield 3 hasn’t gotten an official release date on the Wii U.
WiiUDaily notes that the 250+ strong DICE team is hard at work on BF3 and will be spending considerable time after release working on patches, updates and post content (DLC). The Wii U is the next generation Nintendo console which is said to be 50% more powerful than the PS3 and Xbox 360, and will include an innovative new controller and will support full 1080p gameplay. |
